Rest in Peace Satoru Iwata


RIP IWATA SANUnexpected event recently occurred recently when Nintendo’s CEO and President Satoru Iwata passed away.

Thousands of fans around the world are mourning for the lost of the 55 year old visionary. Nintendo’s third president, Satoru Iwata has been battling cancer for some time. Iwata passed on July 11, 2015 due to bile duct growth according to Nintendo’s released statement.

Nintendo Co., Ltd. deeply regrets to announce that President Satoru Iwata passed away on July 11, 2015 due to a bile duct growth.
The Nintendo President was unable to make it to E3 due illness and had to undergo treatment and surgery. With his absence at E3, Iwata left a message. He assured fans their feedback are heard and they will keep improving.
Fans delighted to hear from Iwata again from one of his messages, via twitter “I’m progresssing well”, many thought he would be up in his feet again. Sadly, this was unexpected and truly a big loss to the gaming community…
Satoru Iwata is the 4th President of Nintendo after succeeding Hiroshi Yamauchi in 2002. Iwata started out as programmer for HAL Laborities, where he worked on games such as Mother and Kirby Dreamland. Iwata’s success came from moving ahead from the GameCube, successfully launching the Wii console and DS handheld. The man was well known around the globe as an iconic image of Nintendo direct, and standing besides Shigeru Miyamoto and Reggie Fils-Aime.
26653C3C515A75722457B7We will miss his bubbly and energetic personality. Oh, the antics he brought with Nintendo’s trio, how we will always cherish those moments in our hearts. He was not just an entrepreneur, he also was developer and at heart, a gamer. Those core elements brought strength to the table as he was selfless. During the times of Nintendos losses, Iwata was respected for taking 50% on his pay.
As of now, Nintendo will be silent on Social Media for the time being, to mourn the loss of Satoru Iwata.
Recently Shigeru Miyamoto has released his statement on Iwata’s passing to IGN and Eurogamer.

“I am truly surprised and saddened by this unexpected news.

The entire development team at Nintendo will remain committed to our development policy which Mr. Iwata and we have been constructing together and to yield the development results which Mr. Iwata would appreciate.”

Thank you for everything Iwata san, you will be deeply missed and treasured in gaming history. I share my condolences to your family and friends.
